According to Joel Baker, the role of leadership is to find, recognise and secure the future. He further opined that the definition of a leader has shifted in the 21st century. The 21st century leader is a bridge builder who is engaged in building safe, wide, inviting bridges for all to cross. They are the people who help us move from where we are to where we need to be! To further buttress above points in the words of John Maxwell, “everything falls and rises on the leader”. The question therefore is – to what extent are we preparing those who will lead us in the next one hundred years? – Just a food for thought!
